How To: Update the NVIDIA graphics drivers after a kernel update

Description:

If the Linux kernel is updated, this will break the Nvidia drivers on your AWS G2 instance which will require them to be recompiled. The easiest way to work-around this is to force a driver update in the bootstrap script of the cluster.

How To:

Add the following line to the bootstrap script of your cluster:

  • cd /usr/bin && nvidia-installer --force-update --silent

NOTE: This only works on G2 instance types.
